Well, I gave in and ate 2 eggs this morning. I guess it's better than eating them everyday, or even eating up to 4 eggs a day. I'm trying to find a balance between not eating eggs and dairy, but still not eating the same thing everyday. I tend to find one thing I like and eat it all the time, which will likely end up as another allergy for me. )o: I did have a great dinner last night of salmon, asparagus and carrots. However, I used a bit of splenda brown sugar blend on the carrots the make a glaze. Not horrible, but I need to try and get away from the artificial stuff too. So, as usual, my diet seems to be a mix of Weight Watchers Core, Zone, and trying to get to Paleo. I'm sure I can never be perfect, but I guess "Progress, not Perfection" is better than no effort at all.
I guess no one is around, so i'll just talk to myself. :o) I am currently eating a lovely lunch. Leftover wild salmon mixed with Trader Joes harvest grain blend that has quinoa, lentils, and orzo in it. Only having 1/2 cup. It also has 1 tsp olive oil mixed in it. I am having left over asparagus and carrots too. I feel kinda healthy.
I'm sure people are hating the fish smell, but it's not too bad. At least I don't think so. Anyhoo, i guess that's it for now.
Melissa, it sounds like you are doing well. Do you like to cook? I think it helps, especially if you are trying to Zone. I'm not much for cooking...I mostly just "assemble" my meals. I'll steam some veggies or make a salad, but that's about it.
For lunch I had a lean cuisine that was balanced (2 proteins, and 2 carbs) and a few olives for some fat. I was craving something sweet so I took a short walk -- that helped.
Pat~ I do like to cook. HOwever, in the evenings after the WOD, I don't really do anything too fancy. My salmon only took about 5 minutes to cook. I steamed the babay carrots and then put them in the pan with splenda brown sugar to glaze while the fish was cooking. Asparagus was a steam bag done in the mirowave. So really, the longest was the carrots to steam. I really prefer to bake. I have a great recipe for VEGAN banana muffins/bread. I found a VEGAN key lime pie that I'm going to try. I usually don't bake unless I am making it for other people though.
I find with wanting something sweet, that a piece of minty gum helps. I've also been drinking green tea in between my liters of water throughout the day, so that helps keep me busy. I susually have a planned afternoon snack which involves fruit and something else. The fruit tends to suffice for the sugar related craving.
I feel like crap. Just ate a huge steak salad. Wouldn't have been SO bad, except I put a ton of creamy, fatty dressing on it. And now I want to fall asleep at my desk.
I have been back in town from vacation for two weeks and have not yet gone grocery shopping. Eating out is the root of my problem.
I need to set some sort of weekly goal around meal preparation or restriction of restaurant fare.
DaniB~ I'm there with you on the eating out. The huge cafeteria has been the demise of my diet. For me, I was out sick for a week and didn't get paid. That lack of extra money has forced me to stay away from the cafeteria and just make do with what I have at home. I feel better knowing I'm not wasting my food at home, at least for now.
Can you make a quick trip to the store just for some staples? It's sooo easy to eat out when you don't have much to work with at home.
Ditto on the grocery store. I will forced to go tomorrow, though, as I am out of coffee creamer and I'd actually make a special trip for that. Thinking of checking out the meat :::AUGH!!!::: section at the Farmer's Market. I think they have bison and ostrich. Although, after doing much research on bison farming I'm starting to feel even worse about eating them. The Native Americans deeply revered and respected them and still ate them so maybe I need to think like an Indian...
Sounds like we all need to go to the grocery store. I'm out of almost everything.
Shana, Ted's Montanna Grill has bison, so you may want to try having a meal there. You can check out their menu online. It might be easier on you if you don't have to prepare the meat...until you adjust to the idea.

I made it through yesterday sugar-free! So that's two consecutive days now with no sugar. Feeling much better.
